Junior Warden's Report
From The South
Brethren,
Worshipful Jamie has declared our August stated communication to be Junior Warden’s Night, and I will have the honor of assuming the East to conduct our Lodge business for the evening. It is certainly a great privilege for me to have a chance to serve as an officer in such a historic and still active Lodge.
We have been hard at work and play in Henrico Union Lodge this summer. We enjoyed a day of family fun at Bethpage Campground last month. Just a few weeks ago, the officers traveled to Millboro Lodge No. 28 and assisted these Brethren in conducting their Lodge business. The following day, we enjoyed fun and fellowship on a James River canoeing trip that spanned 8 miles of river. Your officers used this opportunity to enjoy food and fishing, but also to talk about the continued growth of the Lodge and opportunities for community involvement. We owe a big thanks to Right Worshipful Wimpy Isgett for his excellent hospitality and to Right Worshipful Guy Blankinship for planning and organizing our canoe float.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to be involved in any of our
events this summer, there are still chances. By now, you should have received
information in the mail about our Fall 2010 Barbecue fundraiser.
Please consider the opportunities that these sorts of fundraisers offer our
Lodge. Not only can we raise money to support our community, but we can show
prospective members how fun it is to be a part of Henrico Union Lodge. Our
barbecue sells for $8 per pound, and will be available for pickup on September
11th. We need all the help we can get preparing the barbecue during the week
leading up to the distribution (September 7-10). Please remember to pre-sell as
much as you can – we like to get a good estimate of sales so we don’t waste any
or come up short.
I know that the summer heat is not letting up any, but I hope you can find your way to our August stated communication. Please come dressed comfortably and sensibly for the weather – we would much rather have you in Lodge with us than worried about being too hot in a suit and tie. We will all have the pleasure of hearing from Right Worshipful Bud Sanders, who will be our speaker for the evening. I am sure that any of you who know Right Worshipful Bud are certain that the program will not only be informative, but entertaining as well. As usual, you can expect a delicious dinner prior to Lodge, and the promise of a fun evening with your Brothers.
I look forward to seeing you all on August 3rd.
